Quick answers about WhimCut — plain and simple.
macOS 12 (Monterey) or later. Works on both Intel and Apple Silicon Macs.
Yes. WhimCut is signed and notarized by Apple, so you won't see an "unidentified developer" warning — just a standard first-launch confirmation. Click Open, and it won't appear again.
To capture the area you select when cropping. WhimCut only reads your screen when you actively trigger a crop — never in the background.
Free gives full access to all three modules. The crop tool has no limits. Idea Gallery holds up to 70 Cutouts and 30 Collages; MoodBoard supports up to 15 layers. Full Version removes these limits, permanently — everything else stays the same.
No. Full Version is a one-time purchase ($14.99) — pay once, use it forever.
Credit cards, Apple Pay, and Google Pay. Available options may vary by region and billing address, and we're adding more over time.
Yes, within 7 days of purchase, no questions asked. Email whimcut.app@gmail.com. After a refund, WhimCut reverts to Free and keeps working — nothing is deleted. For example, if you had 300 Cutouts saved and the free limit is 70, all 300 stay viewable and downloadable; you just can't save new ones until you're back under the limit.
Your activation code is emailed to you and shown on the order confirmation page. In WhimCut's menu bar icon, click Activate, paste the code, and confirm. Limits are removed immediately — no restart needed.
On your Mac, locally. Nothing is uploaded — WhimCut works entirely offline.
No. Just download and use it — no sign-up required.
Not yet. WhimCut is macOS only for now. We'll announce it on the Changelog if that changes.
Click Check for Updates in the menu bar to open the download page, then install over your current copy. Your data lives outside the app, so updating never affects it.
Yes. Reinstalling on the same Mac doesn't use a new slot. Each code covers up to 2 devices — enter your code on the new Mac. If both slots are full, email whimcut.app@gmail.com and we'll free one up.
